About Vishwa Marathi Sahitya Sammelan Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan promotes literary discussions by Marathi writers and it is organized annually. The first Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was held in Pune in 1878 under the chairmanship of Mahadev Govind Ranade. The first Vishwa Marathi Sahitya Sammelan was organized by the Bay Area Maharashtra Mandal in Milpitas California, during February 14-16, 2009. Vishwa Marathi Sahitya Sammelan is an initiative taken by the Maharashtra Mandal in  Dubai to bring together  the sahityik and literature enthusiasts from all over the world for spreading the Marathi language, literature and culture. With the active support of  Mahamandal and the Marathi Mandals all over the world, the tradition of organising such an event outside India will continue. About 40 Marathi  sahityik  are going to participate in this Sammelan. Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal is actively supporting this event to be a grand success.
